Paula Still was born in Aberdeen, Scotland 1973. She now lives in Winchester, Hampshire with her husband and 3 children, Emily, Louis and Lottie. She studied fine art at Edinburgh College of Art where she specialized in painting, graduating with 1st Class BA Honors in 1996. She achieved a scholarship to do a Masters in Fine Art completing a Post Graduate Diploma in 1997. During this time she exhibited in Edinburgh and was the 1996 winner of the Royal Scottish Academy students exhibition with ‘Diffusion of the Senses’
Since leaving college Paula worked in children’s publishing in London for 8 years, then she ran her own children’s art club business in Winchester for 10 years. During this time she has exhibited in local galleries and completed numerous private commissions.
An upbringing in Aberdeenshire influenced her passion for landscape and seascape painting and how it can impact your mood. She loves painting local scenes, especially the surrounding countryside, trees, woods, nature, beach huts on the south coast and atmospheric landscapes from the rustic coast of Cornwall.
She is interested in creating a sense of atmosphere and familiarity in her paintings. Using acrylic, mixed media and experimenting with different mediums in her works. Her paintings show vibrant colors, texture and layers, often using palette knives and sponges rather than brushes.
Paula now tutors art part time and continues her passion for painting and creating her own works.
